PRESENTS

LITTLE DEAD BERTHA

By Jasper Jackson

JASPER JACKSON: Please introduce your current lineup to readers.

LDB: Vika Belyaeva---violin, backing vocals, Alex Skorovarov, bass, backing vocals, Stas Chursin---guitars, Dmitry Zampruev---vocals, Serg Galushko---guitars, backing vocals, keyboards, drum programming.

JASPER: How long as your group been in existence?

LDB: Since March 1994.

JASPER: In your own words, briefly describe your band's sound and influences?

LDB: Our music has evolved from Death through Doom to Doom-Gothic. Now we describe it as hard, rhythmical and melodic with keyboards, violin, female vocals and two male vocalists (including growling). No empty or boring passages.

JASPER: Name some bands in which you've shared the stage and opened for?

LDB: We played shows with S.C.A.L.P., High Voltage, Exidie and other local bands. None of our musicians have been members of bands other than LDB.

JASPER: Does your band have an independent CD, demo or video available?

LDB: Yes, we have the MC demo, "In Memorium Premortis," which has sold more than 100 copies in our town and 50 in Russia. And how many pirate copies? We don't know. Soon our demo shall be released on MC by a Moscow label and there must be a few hundred. The label does not have exclusive rights.

JASPER: What is the current scene like in your local area?

LDB: There are many hard bands in our area and they play brutal death and grindcore in most cases. There are many young bands despite the difficulties.

JASPER: What are your long and short term goals and plans?

LDB: Short term plans---to release our demo on MC and to record a new album that's much more cool! Long term plans---to get a contract with a serious label for releasing our albums on CD.

JASPER: What would you say is your biggest gripe about the music industry?

LDB: It's difficult to say. We haven't had any contact with any music industry except here in Russia, and it was not great!

JASPER: Any last words?

LDB: What can we say? The underground lives and we want to become a famous band (in your great country, too). It seems that's enough, yeah? Contact Little Dead Bertha by writing:Popov Vlad, 394036, Koltsovskaya St., 17-113, Voronezh, Russia.
