Gene Simmons"Speaking In Tongues" Gene Simmons is God and I didn't need this release to tell me that. Although, after I got done watching it, I walked away with even more respect for the man. He's a very well spoken individual who doesn't pull any punches. He's brutally honest and he could care less if you buy into what he's saying or not because he speaks only for himself. I happen to admire that. Now, to be honest with you, that whole spoken word thing doesn't exactly float my boat. I look at it this way, if you're gonna stand on stage and talk, you'd better be telling jokes or I'm not interested...and it doesn't matter who it is...it just doesn't do anything for me. However, there's always a first time for everything and, watching Gene do his thing, well, I was impressed. He's serious, he's funny and, on this release, he proved that he can keep an audience entertained without breathing fire, spitting blood and fucking his bass. We get to hear what makes him tick. Money and sex, of course. He's also a loving father who's obviously very proud of his children. Gotta respect that. He takes you on a tour of his palace...uh, I mean, house. Let's just say that if there is such a thing as heaven on earth...I know who's living there. If you listen to the music that's playing in the backround, you'll get a taste of what to expect on Gene's upcoming box set. Yep, it's a lot of his unreleased music and, why not, if you're gonna do a DVD about yourself, you might as well throw your own music on there as well. Don't you agree? Yeah...well, I could continue to praise this release and tell you what a great viewing experience it is. But, I don't wanna come off like I'm kissing Gene's ass...although I would have no problem doing that because, after all, this is Gene Simmons we're talking about here and that's something I would do without even thinking about it. Anyway, let me just say that if you really wanna know who Gene Simmons is and what he's all about, "Speaking In Tongues" will do the trick. If you're a Kiss fan, you won't be disappointed and, if you are, well, that's your problem. |
