Former
Rolling Stone Bill Wyman seems like he's getting a lot of satisfaction
with this performance, which also features Graham Broad, Gary Brooker,
Georgie Fame, Janice Hoyte, Albert Lee, Frank Mead, Nick Payn, Beverly
Skeete and Terry Taylor. This incredible line up of exceptionally talented
musicians take you on a rather upbeat musical journey though twelve
tunes that range from blues, jazz, soul, boogie and rock 'n' roll. There's
some great material to be found here, such as "Jump Jive And Wail" and
"I Put A Spell On You," which are the two that I'm most familiar with.
The beautiful Janice Hoyte gets your blood pumping with "Hello Little
Boy" and you can't escape the groove the band gets into when they do
"Anyway The Wind Blows" and "Mystery Train." This performance is from
the Ohne Filter - Musik Per show, which means that you get up close
and personal with the band and the excellent production and video quality
makes for a rather enjoyable listening and viewing experience. There's
no better way to experience the band. DVD extras include an interview
with the producer of the Ohne Filter - Musik Per show and a short bio
on Bill Wyman. There was a sound tuning feature as well, which I got
bored with a minute or two into it because it's about the technical
side of music and I have no interest in that since I'm not a musician
myself. But, the bottom line here...I said it a few lines up and I'll
say it again...there's no better way to experience the band than this
release. The only way it could possibly be better is if you actually
go out and catch 'em live.
