By Paul Autry First of all, I assume this movie was recently released on DVD because "Phallus In Wonderland" has been out for some time now on video. For those of you who care to remember, this movie was released around the time of the "America Must Be Destroyed" album. Anyway, this is like watching Saturday morning cartoons while under the influence of crack. What it boils down to is this...Gwar has created an extra long rock video disguised as a movie. The six songs featured on this release include "Crack In The Egg," "Have You Seen Me," "The Road Behind," "The Morality Squad," "Gor-Gor" and "Ham On The Bone." These tunes are combined with a rather thin little storyline and the end result is "Phallus In Wonderland." Obviously, Gwar is a very visual band and this release will give you a glimpse into their twisted world and it will give you a good idea of the characters that make up the Gwar universe (at least some of them) and how they're used from album to album, with these wacky bunch of people focused around the "America Must Be Destroyed" release, which I mentioned above. There's just so much to enjoy during the length of this release that you'll want to watch it over and over again...if only to figure out what it is that your eyes have just beheld. I've said it once before and I'll say it again, anything that Gwar puts out is worthy of purchase. But, for those of us who haven't had the pleasure of seeing them live yet, anything on film is even more worthy of purchase. So, don't be a wanker, check out "Phallus In Wonderland" because Gwar needs the money for crack. Nine tons of nose powder is expensive, ya know! |
