Dead Kennedys"In God We Trust, Inc.: The Lost Tapes" There's really not too much to this release other than the historical importance so to speak. The back of the package more or less said it all. On June 19th, 1981, the Dead Kennedys recorded "In God We Trust, Inc." at Subterranean Studios. When they went to mix the tape at Mobius Music, it began to deteriorate. As a result, they had to re-record the entire EP. That session took place on August 22nd, 1981 at Mobius. Those tracks were used for the legendary EP. The original version from Subterranean Studios has never seen the light of day. Until now. The "until now" part is, of course, this release. That's pretty much all there is to it. What you get to see is footage from the original recording session. It's raw, it's up close 'n' personal, it's classic Dead Kennedys. While the studio stuff was cool to watch, the real highlight here is the alternate versions of these songs. This section features various live performances, which is the best way to view the Dead Kennedys. It's a loud, obnoxious, in your face, ball of punk energy. "Rawhide," "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" and "Religious Vomit" are just a few of the tunes you'll enjoy here. It's a somewhat short release. But, it's a must have for any true DK fan. |
