By Paul Autry When you mention 80's music, usually, you get a mixed reaction. People either love it or they hate it, there's really no in between. Now, when you mention the name Dokken, obviously, you're talking about an 80's band. Most of the really good bands from that time are either releasing albums that don't match up to past accomplishments or their not releasing anything because they're no longer together. But, Dokken is a band that has survived and they've done so without losing touch with the kind of band that they started out as. Simply put, Dokken is a great rock 'n' roll band and that, they have remained. Their newest release, "Live From The Sun," is not only a great record, it's also a great DVD release as well. Hearing the band is one thing, to view them in action is something else. When you watch the "Live From The Sun" show, what you see are four guys on stage, playing rock 'n' roll...there's no catch, no gimmick, nothing to take the focus away from the music. On this release, it's the music that does all the talking. And anyone who will dare to say that bands from the 80's are washed up, well, you haven't seen Dokken in action recently, have you? Some of the 80's bands may be washed up...but Dokken isn't one of them. The DVD release features some bonus material that isn't on the CD. Besides the up close and personal band interviews, you get two acoustic tracks, "Will The Sun Rise" and "Walk Away" and the addition of "Paris Is Burning." |
