By Paul Autry The DVD that was sent to me had "Test Sample" written on it, so, I assume it's a promo copy. I didn't recieve any information with it and there was no packaging. So, all I can really comment on is what's on the DVD itself, which should be enough for you to form an opinion, right? Anyway, this concert video was recorded on April 8th, 1995 in Bombay, India, which was, I believe, Deep Purple's first trip down there. and you all know that there has ben a few line up changes in the history of Purple, but, the players at this moment in time were Ian Gillan, Ian Pace, Steve Morse, Jon Lord and Roger Glover. The film starts off with a quick interview and, from there, it goes into the concert which, at times, looks almost bootleg quality. Certain scenes are almost impossible to watch. But, the sound comes through really clear, so, you do get to hear what the Deep Purple concert experience sounds like. The band tears through some classic numbers such as "Perfect Strangers," "The Battle Rages On," "Speed King," "Space Trucking" and, of course, "Smoke On The Water," seventeen songs in all. You can watch this all at once, or, you can browse through the songs at random, whatever floats your boat. There's also band bio's that you can go through. Bottom line is this...if you're a Deep Purple fan and you have a DVD player, you'll add this to your collection. |
