"LONDON ROCK AND ROLL SHOW"

By: Paul Autry

Now this is what rock 'n' roll is all about. While I can't honestly say that I listen to any of these artists on a regular basis, I did enjoy this film because, you know, there's a time when magical things happen and this event is one of those times. While most of your modern day metal heads probably wouldn't think twice about something like this, back in the day it was a big deal to have people like Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Heinz, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Screaming Lord Sutch and Bill Haley & The Comets on the same stage. This particular show, according to the liner notes on the DVD cover, was the first concert to be staged at Wembley Stadium. Gotta repeat myself here because there's really only one way to describe it...magical. Every artist on here, their performance is magical. This is when rock 'n' roll was, well, rock 'n' roll. This was a time when it was all about the music and the people who were performing it. I've been to some big ass shows in my time, but, as good as they were, they just can't seem to capture the vibe that these artists did in their time. Certain things, I think, are more about time, the era in which they were written, recorded, performed, stuff like that. Even if you could put these same artists on the same stage in this day and age, I don't think the vibe would be there...the magic wouldn't be there. That's what makes it special because that feeling can't be repeated. But, it can be enjoyed over and over again through this 84 minute film. There's some fine performances here and to pick out one or two just for the sake of writing about them wouldn't do this release justice. Watch this film from begining to end to get the full effect of what this event actually did for people back then and I'm sure you'll appreciate it more. http://www.musicvideodistributors.com
