Hard Vision

Firewind

"I Am The Anger" Video
Leviathan Records
by Jonathan Mariante

This video clip, for the song from Firewind's latest album, "Burning Earth", shows the band playing, singer Stephen Frederick sporting a reaper's cowl, intercut with scenes of topless, longhaired guys, brandishing shovels, who then go digging in the sandy hills of what looks like Utah or Arizona, and appear to be performing some kind of ritual. At the end, they take their shovels and leave. The video is a bit strange, but the song is great. It's a hard driving classic style heavy metal tune, hard edged yet melodic, with some influence from Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, as well as many other classic metal bands. The band is very talented and plays up a storm! Be sure and check out the aforementioned album if classic metal is your cup. For more details on it, see my review in the January/February Hard 20. MTV needs to put more videos like this on their new Headbanger's Ball to show the world some great metal that they're not seeing/hearing! It's a sin that bands like Firewind don't get the props they deserve! There is life after the flavor of the month after all! MTV...Show this video!
