Hard Vision

The Pat Travers Band
"Boom Boom: Live At The Diamond 1990"
(Cherry Red)
by Paul Autry

I didn't think I was gonna like this one. But...suprise, suprise...it was rather entertaining for me. I can't say that I ever paid attention to the music that Pat Travers had to offer because...well...I can't listen to everybody. Know what I mean? Anyway, I actually took the time to watch this one. Hard to believe this performance is 15 years old. I guess you could say that Pat's music is holdin' up rather well. In fact, some of these tunes sounded a lot better than some of the modern stuff I've had to listen to lately. This is beer drinkin' rock 'n' roll and I would have loved to have been at this show, kickin' back with a cold one, getting my ass rocked off. The band is pretty tight during the entire 70 minute performance. They manage to rip through 14 tunes in that time. There's some great stuff here...tunes like "Snortin' Whiskey," ""School Of Hard Knocks," "Born Under A Bad Sign," "Heat In The Street" and, of course, "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)." If you're a Pat Travers fan, you're gonna be in rock 'n' roll heaven with this one.
