Pranks (a.k.a. The Dorm that Dripped Blood) A teen slasher movie from the early 80's. B-movie horror cheese at its best...or worst, depending on your point of view. Morgan Meadows Hall has been condemned and five college students volunteer to close the structure, without knowing (of course) that they're about to be knocked off one by one for no apparent reason other than a psychopathic killer who lacks a little something in the love department. The message here seems to be...if nobody likes you, kill 'em all. There doesn't seem to be much to this movie. The first scene is a murder which is never explained and never mentioned again. The rest of the cast will die in less than 84 minutes, which is the length of the film. About the best scene in the whole movie is a boob shot. When it comes to a film such as this, the only thing that's worth remembering are the boobs and, in this case, it's not too hard because there's only one shot of 'em. They're rather nice. Actually, there's more than a boob shot that's worth remembering here. Although she bites the dust very early in the film, Daphne Zuniga makes an appearance...although I'm sure she would rather you forget that she was in this one, which would be kind of hard to do since they slapped her name on the front of it, which, to me, isn't about the movie. It's about selling the movie based on the fact that someone famous was actually in it. Kind of like the DVD release of "Trick Or Treat," which has Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons on the front cover like it's their movie when they're only featured for about five minutes, if that. If I'm not mistaken, this was Daphne Zuniga's first film. If that's the case, I can understand the whole name on the front cover deal. As for me, well, I got to see it, I wrote this little review, I'll never watch or think of this movie again. |
