Written By: Paul Autry It takes but one viewing to understand why this movie deserves to celebrated
twenty five years after it was first released. It's a perfect blend of horror
and humor. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, let me give
you an explanation. It's the holiday season and a group of sorority sisters
begin getting knocked off one by one after recieving a few obscene phone
calls. As the bodies start to pile up, you get an idea of who the killer is
and why he's doing what he's doing. But, don't think it's as easy to figure
out as I might make it sound. Have you seen the Bruce Willis movie, "The
Sixth Sense?" Remember the suprise ending, which was somewhat easy to figure
out if you were really paying attention. Well, "Black Christmas" has an
ending like that and, even if you're paying attention, you won't be able to
figure this one out. I could give it away but, for those of you who haven't
seen this movie, that would totally ruin it for you. I will say this
much...it leaves the impression that there could have been a sequel. The
characters were all played rather well. But, the true star of "Black
Christmas" is Olivia Hussey. She has an incredible, innocent charm about her.
When you see what she has to deal with in this movie, you instantly feel her.
A top notch performance if I do say so myself. The special features on this
DVD release include interactive menus, a scene index, cast bios, the original
theatrical trailer and an interview with John Saxon. For those of you who
enjoy a good horror movie, this one doesn't disappoint. One of the true great
horror films of our time.
