The New Jersey based "40
Below Summer" has been making a lot of noise lately; touring with
Primer 55 and Dry Kill Logic and winning over metal fans nation wide
with their intense live show. "We just bring it and give it all we
got," says singer Max Illidge, "you're gonna feel the energy man,
that's all I can say."
40
Below Summer, (who includes Hector Graziana on bass, Joe D'Amico on
guitar and Carlos Aguilar on drums,) offers a brand of aggressive
rock music that is explosive evil-enhanced hip-hop/metal in the genre
of Korn, Slipknot and Rage Against the Machine that has a dynamic,
yet brutal quality and a fierce edge. Max Illidge displays a diverse
vocal range that enables him to sing very melodic and soothing and
suddenly break into death metal growls and screams. "People should
expect something new and different; expect something that isn't cliched.
Expect something that's heavy and honest and heavy and melodic and
will take you in a lot of different directions." Explains Illidge
of his music. The music of 40 Below Summer is truly a roller coaster
of sounds and fury that shakes the senses and enrages our primal instincts.
"Each song carries it's own emotion and it's own series of emotions
and no two songs should sound alike. Each song has it's own entity
in itself and sounds completely different. Every song has it's own
vibe, it's own energy, it's own life force. One thing we always try
to accomplish is to have our own sound and to let each song take you
on a different ride." Their debut album, "Invitation to the Dance"
was produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Kittie)
and executive produced by M. Shawn Crahan (#6- Clown of Slipknot)
is a collection of music that certainly demonstrates the bands diversity
and musical meshing's. "GGGarth is great, he's a phenomenal producer,
he tried to get the best out of the band and he vibed with each member
of the band in a different way to try and get the best out of each
of us.. He's great." "Invitation to the Dance" may very well mark
40 Below Summer as one of the more distinctive bands to spawn within
this new generation of heavy rockers. But, do they fit in? "As far
as where we fit in with the scene and how we are compared to other
bands, I just don't think you could." Says Illidge, "I don't know
where we fit in. We fit with each other and we're here right now and
we love to play." For more info on 40 Below summer you can log to:
