WWF: Various Artists

We all know that the WWE (formerly the WWF) is one of the biggest
entertainment phenomena in the world today (and I must confess, I'm a
fan myself!). They have released many compilation albums, and this one
is the latest, and possibly the most complete of all of them. It
features some of the biggest names in hard rock today, playing the
entrance theme songs for the WWE stars!
The album kicks off with Drowning Pool doing their version of "The
Game", Triple H's theme song, which was originally done by Motorhead.
It's OK, but I prefer the original. Next up is Kid Rock with ZZ Top's
classic, "Legs", used as theme music by wrestling diva Stacy Kiebler
(Oh
la la!). While not as good as the original, the Kid gives "Legs" his
own
twist, and makes it a hip shaking little number. Also featured
are Limp Bizkit doing "Rollin", formerly the Undertaker's theme (he is
using a different song now); Rob Zombie with Edge's song, "Never Gonna
Stop". I have to say I think Rob has done better. This song sounds a
bit
watered down compared to his earlier work, and lacks the bite it had.
We
also have Breaking Point doing Rob Van Damme's theme, "One Of A Kind".
Now this I like! It's just straight up hard rock like it was meant to
be! Another popular shock rocker is featured here-Marilyn Manson with a
new version of his already legendary "The Beautiful People", which has
been adopted as the "Smackdown" theme; likewise, we have Union
Underground doing the Raw theme, "Across The Nation", and Neurotica
with
"Ride Of Your Life", which was used as the theme for the annual "King
Of
The Ring" event. Other stars' themes include the aggressive "Glass
Shatters" by Disturbed, Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme (who recently
left the WWE for reasons unexplained); Sevendust's "Break The Walls
Down", Chris "Y2J" Jericho's theme (he's one of my personal
favorites!);
Dope doing a hard rock version of "No Chance", Vince MacMahon's theme
music (this sounds like a different version than the one used on the
show); rap rockers Cypress Hill doing Tazz's theme, "Just Another
Victim"; Boy Hits Car doing Lita's theme, "Lovefurypassionenergy" (Glad
they didn't forget the ladies!); Saliva doing "Turn The Tables", the
theme for the recently split Dudley Boys; Stereomud doing the
Pantera-ish "The End Of Everything", Raven's theme (another wrestler
who
recently departed the WWE); and Monster Magnet with "Live For The
Moment", which is said to be the Hardy Boys' theme song but it doesn't
sound like the one I hear on the show. Perhaps it's a different
version?
This collection does make for a fun listen! All the songs rock hard!
The WWE has done a good job putting it together. Fans of today's hard
rock scene and/or wrestling should really dig this!
