Death metal has never been my thing and as soon as I realized that's
what musical style was featured on this release, I knew I wasn't gonna
like it...and I was right. But, here's the deal...my problem with this
release, and death metal in general, is the vocal style that's usually
associated with this style of music and, from the moment those vocals
kicked in, I was ready to turn this album off and pass it on to someone
who would get more enjoyment out of it than I would. Needless to say, I
had to at least go through the rest of the album, not that I wanted to,
but, it's my job, you know? The one thing that I was impressed with was
the musicianship itself. There's some excellent guitar work to be found
on this release and, well, if you take away the vocals, I'd probably
listen to this album a lot more...and instrumental music isn't really
my
thing either. But, when you make good music, I do tend to appreciate
that and, yes, by what I heard, these guys can play. The album
packaging
is rather cool...a lot of blood and guts, which is something else
that's
associated with this style of music. If you're a fan of extreme music
that's played well, you should dig this release. Hell, it's probably
already in your collection.
