Planet X

"Live from OZ"

By Paul Autry

I'm not one for instrumental music, but, when it comes to Planet X, they're a band that I've been keeping my eye on because they've been doing some amazing things in the music world. The band, as you know, features former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian, Virgil Donati on drums and Tony Macalpine on guitar and, on this release, Dave Larue on bass. "Live From Oz" is, as you should know by the title, a live album and what Kiss "Alive" did for rock 'n' roll, "Live From Oz" does for instrumental progressive music and, let's face it, nothing more really needs to be said. Well, maybe a few more words. Honestly, I think a video or DVD of this show should've been released because you can feel the power of this band on the stage. It's so great that if you close your eyes, you can almost visualize the show, which was probably a mind blowing experience for all those in attendance. This is a must have release for those of you who enjoy progressive music, that's all there is to it. http://www.xplanetx.com
