"Raising the Mammoth"
(Magna Carta)

By Paul Autry

I don't think I get the concept of this release, but, the amount of talent contained on this recording is absolutely amazing. Terry Bozzio, John Myung, Kerry Livgren, Marty Friedman, Gary Wehrkamp, Mark Robertson, Steve Walsh, James LaBrie and Trent Gardner, who happens to be the driving force behind this release. This album was released on Magna Carta Records, so, you know it's gonna be in the progressive vein, which is what this label is famous for...and, my God, the quality of the albums that they put out is simply mind-blowing and the musicianship is damn near perfect, especially on this release, which I would describe as a progressive/metal/experimental album. You really need to listen to "Raising The Mammoth" numerous times in order to take it all in and even then you might find yourself hitting the replay button a few more times. http://www.magnacarta.net
