Axel Rudi Pell

"Shadow Zone"
(SPV)

By Paul Autry

Over 20 years in the business and on this, his 13th solo album, famed German rock guitarist Axel Rudi Pell is gonna show you that his creative well is far from running dry and he's gonna introduce you to one of the best albums that you will ever hope to hear. What's really interesting about this release is the fact that, on the copy I have there's a note that this is not the final master...these 10 songs are rough mixes. That's amazing because, if I didn't see that, I never would've known. This album has an excellent sound the way it is and if these are just rough mixes, my God, the finished product is gonna be mind blowing. Speaking of mind blowing, track six really blew me away...there's some impressive guitar work to be heard on this song, which is titled "Follow The Sign." "Saint Of Fools" and "Edge Of The World" are the same way...rocking songs that go straight for the throat. Top quality musicianship, an excellent sound, a well balanced wall of sound that's sure to impress even the most picky headbanger. Very cool, indeed! http://www.spv.de
