Atreyu

A death catching display of dynamic Hardcore and technical brilliance,
Atreyu, on their debut record does not disappoint. Combining the best
of
semi-metallic Emo-core with Punk pride they carry a range and intensity
on their shoulders that'll set the tone for others to follow. As the
title indicates, their words are as evocative as is their music;
somber,
intense, haunting and daunting before emerging victorious by way of
mold-breaking melodic hooks and opposing dark into light vocal forces
that lends another level of focus to already blockbuster arrangements.
The outstanding attribute to Atreyu's music is it doesn't take a
Berkeley school grad to comprehend all that's taking place around
them-the music's complex not convoluted and their usually mid-paced
tempos are arrived at smoothly where as if by design the reigns are
pulled in before approaching the edge of egoism. "Suicide Notes…"
conjures minds eye images of depressive angst with melancholic depth
and
Metal-flown guitar scales-an astonishing piece of work easy to admire,
difficult to tame.
