The 16 second first track of this CD serves no worthwhile purpose so I
recommend you just start out this CD on track 2, a stoner-rock journey
called "Dig the Ride." If you fail to dig this 39 minute ride, you must
have ice going through your veins. The quartet, from Eatontown, NJ,
pack
quite the punch. Part 60s/psychadelic rock, part
AC/DC-down-the-throat-to-the-gut guitar riffs, and part Cult vocal
delivery by vocalist/guitarist James Hogan. This is not one of those
projects where the lead vocalist writes all the words and music and the
other musicians fill in their role. Rather, drummer Regina Satana
shines
with the backbeat of "Born of Fire" when her drums and the bass of Mike
Fiore lock into a groove. By the time the CD reaches "Meanspirit,"
Hogan
has established himself as the type of vocalist that you can listen to
over and over again. He becomes hypnotizing as his delivery is thicker
than a lot of the bands I've been hearing lately. He has the soul
behind
his lyrics. I like this release, even the short "Stab Your Back" that
lasts only 1:03, a track written by Rat Scabies of the Damned, which
serves to break up the mid-tempo songs that surround it. Satana
launches
into the best uptempo beat on the CD on the CD with "Firefight." The
3/4
experimental vibe of "Box Full of Dirt" works as the band locks
themselves into one helluva groove. I listened to this for days before
I
realized that I had to write a review of it
