Throne of Nails
"Acts of War"
(2002 Crash/Pavement)

By Wayne Klinger

It's been quite some time since I reviewed anything from Pavement and I see they are keeping things the same with signing extremely brutal bands. A rare signing of a Death metal band from England on this label with their 14-track debut of mentionables Vader, Morbid Angel and Immolation. On my own I'd add Gorguts,Massacre and Louisiana's once noted band Incubus as far as technical and brutality are concerned. Not a bad CD to listen to despite it's nothing totally original and falls into that early 90's category where Death Metal had a staple of bands coming out at an astronomical rate. What I did fin identifiable with the band was the odd signature rhythms like that of Voi Vod....brings back fond memories of "Dimension Hatross". Alot of talent here but the media and fans will be the true test of where this band goes from here. www.crash-inc.com
