Slitheryn
"4-song EP"
(2002 self)

By Wayne Klinger

Another return from this extremely young Metal band out of Chicago which burst onto the scene with a Slipknot cover of "Eyeless" that brought a huge buzz, even to #8 (Corey Taylor, Slipknot's vocalist) for production duties and some song arrangements and writing for this EP for Slitheryn that follows up the band's "Slurpee" release from last year. It's cool to see such a young band doing well and getting the press they deserve but it seems the music was a bit overshadowed by all this as my opinion just sees them being a "kiddie" version of Kittie with the bit of Slipknot influence; nothing really stands out in terms of originality. They have many years ahead of them regardless and every band goes through that "trial and error" period; it's just good to see bands like this starting at such a young age and getting a taste of the underground and tinkering their strategy and musical skills over a period of time--- Slitheryn is quite capable of making things happen with a few years under their belts. www.slitheryn.com
