Pain of Salvation
"Remedy Lane"
(Inside Out Music)

By Paul Autry

Didn't I review this band before? Yes, I believe I did and, wouldn't you know it, they're still going strong. Now, to be honest here, when I got this release, I didn't go back to see what I had to say about their previous album. But, I remember. The one thing I liked about this band was the variety they had within their material. On "Remedy Lane," it's the same thing. You get a total of thirteen songs that clock in at over an hour and, when listening to this release, you can't really put a difinitive label on this band because they go from one extreme to another. They've got power, they've got aggression, they've got, to a certain degree, a Queensryche quality to them, they've got progression, they're heavy and, yes, they can even be mellow when they want to be, like on track number five, "This Heart Of Mine." What I like about this band is they can do anything they want to and it wouldn't affect their career one way or another because you can't expect anything from them. You can't say, well, they're gonna do this because that's what they do...no, no, no. That's the beauty of Pain Of Salvation. They don't focus on any one style of music. They b;end many different styles and many different emotions into each release. The only thing they really focus on is making great music and, with "Remedy Lane," they've done it again. Another spectacular release from a great band. Highly recommended. http://www.insideoutmusic.com
