Howling Diablos
"Good Rockin' Tonight"
(2001 Sun Records)

By Wayne Klinger

Surprised I never heard of this band from Detroit with all the Kid Rock hype with this 5-song EP with Kid Rock guesting on vocals on the very first track "Drinkin' Wine-Spo-Dee-O-Dee"; doing his signature Rap style. Turning away from the press sheet since everything on the first side dwells on this track, Howling Diablos are a pretty interesting and original band with a Jazz meets Funk, Blues and Rap. You may use Kid Rock as a musical likeness but HD is all to their own and I haven't heard anything like this despite it's not my cup of tea. With Kid Rock being a huge fan of the band and I'm sure he's pushing them as well, I hope they get signed for their talents and not for the "who you know" aspect; they are doing something way different than what's on the current market trend. info: ISLPR@aol.com
