Green Carnation
"Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness "
(The End Records)

By Paul Autry

Okay, let's get this out of the way first...my only problem with this release is the fact that it's one song that runs about an hour and eight seconds. I really hate when people do that because, at least for me, when I first get an album, I like to skip through the tracks just to see what I have before me. Then, when I'm ready, I go back and listen to it from begining to end. When a song doesn't float you, well, that's what the skip button is for. This album, you more or less have to sit and listen to it from begining to end. Anyway, other than that, I really don't have anything to complain about. I could review this album with a single word...EPIC! It's a huge album that draws from pretty much every genre of metal music to make one fantastic album. There's also a children's choir, an opera choir, a string ensemble and, hell, the only thing missing would be the kitchen sink. It's a very creative effort and, to be honest, you don't see a lot of people doing something like this. Green Carnation is really going out on a limb with this release and, you've gotta give credit where credit is due...there's hardly a band out there that would attempt something like this. Let's take, for example, Metallica. As big as they are, even they wouldn't dare do something like this because most people probably wouldn't embrace it and there would be nothing worse than spending all that time and effort into making a single, hour long song and having people ignore it. So, it'll be interesting to see how people react to "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness." From what I've heard, it should grab the attention of someone out there. What "Titanic" did for the blockbuster movie, Green Carnation should do for the metal release. Once again, a single word...EPIC! http://www.theendrecords.com
