GD
"Hyper"
(Independent)

By Paul Autry

GD is actually a guitarist by the name of Giulio D'Agostino. As I always point out in almost every instrumental release that I review...I'm not really one for this style of music. I like words, what can I say? But, this guy is pretty good and, as you go through this disc, you'll quickly come to realize that, yeah, not only can he play, but, he's also not a one dimensional player...unlike some of the releases that came across my desk over the years where the entire album just sounds like one long, drawn out song. This guy actually has a bit of substance to his musical creations and I can appreciate that. Plus, I don't get the impression that these songs were put together just to show off...again, a lot of guitar players seem to do that. You know, the old rock star, watch how fast I can play and wow, aren't I the best thing you ever heard sort of attitude. I don't get that impression here. I do get the impression that these songs were put together for a more personal, let the listener have some enjoyment point of view, which is also cool. With the right promotion, this guy could eventually rank up there with the guitar greats. So, keep your eyes open because I'm sure we'll be hearing more from this artist in the very near future. http://www.mp3.com/gd_guitar
