Bush

Jonathan Mariante Bush is a band that have been big news on the music scene for several
years now, and this is their new album. I have to be honest here...I
have never liked this band. I think their music is as boring as hell,
all their music sounds the same, and they're not the most talented
musicians, either. They came along during the whole alterna-grunge
craze
of the 90's (a style of music I was never keen on) , and to these ears,
they just sound like a commercial pop rock band in an alternative
disguise, like a Bon Jovi of alternative (although nowhere near as
good as Bon Jovi!). I also think singer Gavin Rossdale is little more
than a Bono (U2) wannabee...and not a very good one at that! I've never
understood why these guys are so popular, they're really nothing
special, even for this genre. As I said, they're not very talented or
original, and their music is bland, limp wristed, and monotonous.
They're really a half-assed band, I think! And this new album does
nothing to change my opinion. It's your typical Bush album, in exactly
the same vein as their earlier work. The music is alternative pop-rock,
slow, somber, and downtuned, with fuzztone guitars. Shoe staring music
(which makes me wonder how this album and the band will fare, since
this
style is no longer "flavor of the month". Not that I really care!). Not
very exciting at all to these ears at all. One song I found especially
boring was the ballad "Out Of This World"-Hardly! This verges on being
elevator music! Guaranteed to cure insomnia! There is also a second
ballad on this album, "Inflatable", which tries to be Beatlesque, but
of
course doesn't come close! Another song, "My Engine Is With You" (this
song does have a cool title, which is really the coolest thing about
this album!), is faster and a little more rocking than the album's
other
tracks. More songs like this would have made the album a bit more
listenable for me. Now, fans of Bush should like "Golden State" because
the band sticks with their trademark style. However, as I said, I am
not
a fan of theirs, and I did not enjoy this album. The only thing "Golden
State" did for me was send me into a "golden state" of sleep! Good
night! ZZZZZZZZ!
