Vapourspace
"Sonic Residue From Vapourspace"
(Magna Carta)

By Jonathan Mariante

Magna Carta is an exceptionally good label and they put out some of the finest music this planet has ever seen. I've got quite a few of their releases in my collection. But, this one is something that I just couldn't get into for the simple fact that it's not at all a style of music that I'm comfortable listening to. But, like everything that Magna Carta releases, this is a top quality album, the production is excellent and a lot of effort was put into making this another great release. It's everything that you have come to expect from a Magna Carta release. You see...Vapourspace is a guy named Mark Gage who, I must admit, I know nothing about. On this release, he takes tunes by Attention Deficit, Niacin, Steve Morse, Explorers Club, Liquid Tension Experiment, Bozzio Levin Stevens, Steve Walsh and Tempest and he puts them through the remix blender making for quite an interesting listen. On top of that, you get extensive liner notes which explain quite a lot. It's a very, shall we say, "complete" release...in every sense of the word. But, then again, this is Magna carta we're talking about and I wouldn't expect anything less from them. But, like I said, it's not something I can listen to on a regular basis because it just doesn't float my boat. A good album is a good album though and this one is good for what it is. http://www.magnacarta.net
