"Mantrapping For Sport and Profit"
(Tortuga Recordings)

By Vinnie Apicella

I guess you could say they give new meaning to the idea of "Combat Rock" these guys are like a cumulous cloud rolling over a beautiful blue sky-the results are unpleasant, repugnant and vile. but ya gotta love them verses. They remind me a lot of System of a Down in that sense, you got this gut-churning rhythm section that bulldozes its way through, full-on head of steam, then these little melodic intricacies surface and goddamned, they make for a delightful contrast and ya end with some serious bruises by the time they're through. "Acid For Blood," probably unlike anything I'd ever heard before-discounting of course their own four previous records which I knew nothing of-"Rats U.S.A." is one for the highlight reel with its "Run rodent run" chorus and brutal riff to match. and you gotta guy called Ironlung at the foot of the mic, a foot long beard to go with it and a mouthful or rage that you don't wanna get within ten feet of! There's a big write up on these guys and they're said to have come from the shores of New Hampshire when I'd have a hard time believing they weren't peeled off the battlefield of Fucking Antwerp! It's Hick Rock of the most severe kind, they got a pretty serious mindset but they're way of getting the message across is what makes them so. unique-"Deliver The Yankee Coffin," "The Most Dangerous Animal Is Me," "Blizzards, Buzzards, and Bastards." I mean how you gonna beat that? Rank and file 'em up somewhere with ZZTop, Skynyrd, Antiseen, C.O.C. a lit fuse and a B-12 bomber, then stand way the Hell back, this kinda shit creeps up on you real quick and you ain't gonna be prepared enough to handle it-but you should anyway and you will because stupid bastards that we are, we always have to want what's not good for us.
