"Mission Of Destruction Live"
(Crook'd Records)

By Paul Autry

Okay, here's a band with some history behind them that I'm not quite familiar with. A quick look through their bio...they were a Swedish band that formed in 1980, put a few releases out, broke up, got back together for a one shot reunion gig, they sort of reformed and officially called it a day in 1994. Considering the fact that the copy I have is a promotional copy...a CD-R copy that did a skip or two in my CD player...not a good way to send something out that you want people to write about. Anyway, the bulk of material on here are, of course, live songs recorded from various gigs, including their last show, a festival appearance and their reunion show. The album has a raw, bootleg feel to it, which you might or might not appreciate it. I guess it all depends on how you look at these things. There is some good music on here and, in some places, they remind me a bit of Iron Maiden. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. There's two bonus tracks from 1982 during the sessions for their "Reflexions" release. I would say this...if you're familiar with this band, this release is something you might wanna check out. The liner notes offer a good explanation of what you're listening to and a bit of history about the band. I guess this release will stand as a testament to what this band was all about back in the day. Personally, I got into this release. But, I can't say that I'll go searching for their material. Besides, the way I understand it, it might be a little hard to come by. So, this release will do the trick for me. http://www.algonet.se/~stark http://www.crook-drecords.com
