King Diamond

| By
Jonathan Mariante Hi Dark Majesty King Diamond is set to release a new
blood-curdling horror/metal saga onto the world on January 29, 2002. It is to
be titled "Abigail II-The Revenge", and, as the title suggests, it is to
be a sequel to his classic "Abigail" album. This is a three-song
sampler disc of that album. If this is a taste of what the album is to be
like, it should be a great one! King Diamond is his usual bone-chilling
self! His evil, hair-raising voice is as strong, scary, and powerful as
ever! Him and his band are definitely in their classic form! Andy La
Rocque's guitar playing is brilliant, and the three other band members,
guitarist Mike Wead, bassist Hal Patino, and drummer Matt Thompson (the
newest member of the King clan) are also excellent musicians. The songs
are beautifully written and executed. Heavy and strong as ever, but
also melodic, haunting, and creepy. Only King Diamond can do it this way.
He is truly a genius at what he does, and has a unique style that
can never be duplicated. He is in a class all his own, though if his
music were to be categorized, it would fit into the traditional,
classic-style heavy metal genre, although as I said, King does it in his own
special way. He is a very gifted musician, singer, songwriter, and
storyteller, and his talents have won him many fans in all camps of the
metal community, from fans of traditional style/power metal to those
who prefer black/death metal. All of his fans should love "Abigail
II...", if these three songs ("The Storm", The Wheelchair", and "Spirits")
are a sample of the album proper. As I said, this is classic King Diamond
at his finest! If any fans were disappointed in some of his
recent releases, "Abigail II..." should restore their faith in the King!
All hail the Dark Reign of King Diamond!
