The Kicks

"The Kicks"

(Indie Release)

by Beca Marshall

The Kicks are definitely radio friendly indie rock. They have elements of commercial music like Weezer while maintaining an indie sound. The production on the album is really good. This is the kind of cd you can put on and listen to and eventually find yourself singing along. The choruses are catchy and the song writing is good. Sometimes the vocal melodies remind me of The Queers. It has at times a pop punk kind of feel. If The Kicks can get some airplay, they will be all over the radio. Lyrically, they have the anti-pop music, anti-pop culture stand that ironically makes pop music popular today. Overall, The Kicks cd is good and I think it will catch on quickly.
