The Brought Low

The Brought
Low's self titled debut album is hard rocking relief for those suffering
through today's style over substance music scene. This is a real band
who care more about what guitars they play than what tattoos they (don't)
have. They write real songs straight from the heart and would rather
put on a show than strike a pose. The Brought Low is probably the best
southern rock band you're likely to find in Brooklyn. Formed in 1999
by three city kids who learned their trade playing and touring with
NYC stalwarts Sweet Diesel, Murphy's Law and The Voluptuous Horror Of
Karken Black, they're a power trio in the classic sense. They deliver
some pretty Dixie fried southern sounds, through song titles like "City
Boy," "Kings & Queens" and "Outer Borough Dust Run" make it clear they're
not playing possum with their origins. Sure, there's a ZZ Top lick here
and a Ronnie Van Zant vocal line there, but, you'll also hear healthy
portions of The Stones, The Who and a million other old school hard
rock references delivered with the force and fury of the punk rock the
members grew up playing. Make no mistake. The influences are vintage,
but, this is not a museum piece. This is stuff that knows the past,
fills the present and will still sound real tomorrow.
