"Head Held High"
(Candlelight)

Nyia It was during the early 90's that Polish death metal would be found with the birth of the little known band, Vader. Who would know then what this four piece would later accomplish, to date, continuing to record successfully year afer year. In these early days, guitarist Jaroslaw Labieniec would be integral to the band's initial recordings. After pivotal albums "The Darkest Age," "Future Of The Past" and "De Profundis," he made a clean break to concentrate on something completely of his own accord. And thus Nyia was born.

Labieniec, with former Prophecy vocalist Michal Pawlic, guitarist Szymon Czech and drummer Wojciech Szymanski recorded their first EP in 2001. Available only in Poland, the recording found immediate acclaim; with the band's precision laced warp speed creations drawing reference to some of the genere's most potent and high selling artists. Now signed to Candlelight Records, Nyia look to make the world their stage with the release of their full length debut "Head Held High."

Recorded at Selani Studio in Olsztyn, "Head Held High" is chock full of nihilistic metal gems that will surely find immediate acclaim via fans and critics alike. Each song, most clocking in under 2 1/2 minutes, hits hard and fast but with precision and musical aptitude unusual for a debut. Pawluc's performance is a must hear as he viciously attacks with a guteral force that rivals some of today's best.

"Head Held High" is a solid debut and a formible start for Nyia.
