Perhaps one of the most mysterious live albums to grace the shelves, Metal Church bear forth a compilation of some of their most potent performances through out their long lived metal careers! Yet the recording is a bit of an enigma even to the band. "As far as we know at least two of the songs were recorded in Dallas, but, we are not sure where the rest were recorded at," explains guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. "The tapes were in storage at Bad Animal studios in Seattle," he continues, "And the tapes that were not owned by Elektra Records had very limited or no information on them at all. So I just went through them and found the best performances that I could find on all the tapes." The recordings go back to early 1985, which would take us to the first leg of the band's "The Dark" tour before they hooked up with Metallica later that year and into early '86. "After listening to the tapes it became very obvious to me that it would be very important that we had some documentation of the band live. With this record, we feel that we have captured the energy and intensity that we have become known for," Vanderhoof asserts.
